Why a local app needs an account
Last updated 9 October 2026
The account is how your licence follows you. You buy ThatPrompt once on the website, and the licence goes onto your account, so any computer you sign in on is unlocked. Your prompts are never stored with it.
What the account is for
- Your licence. It's attached to your account's email, which is how a purchase on the website reaches the app.
- Two computers. The licence covers two computers at a time, and the account is what counts them. See Use ThatPrompt on a second computer.
- Replies to feedback. Feedback from the app comes with your account's email, so we can answer.
What it isn't for
- Not your prompts. They stay on your computer. There's no copy on our server, so there's nothing to sync, and nothing to lose if your account goes away.
- Not usage analytics. If you turn them on, they're sent without your account. See Turn usage analytics on or off.
Do I need to be online?
Once to sign in and activate. After that, ThatPrompt works offline, including Enhance. In the first month after buying, it checks your purchase with the server about once a week. See Your account and licence.
