Install on macOS

Last updated 9 October 2026

Download the Mac version from thatprompt.ai/download, open the .dmg, and drag ThatPrompt into your Applications folder. Then open it from Applications. You need macOS 14 or later.

Install

  1. Go to the download page and choose Download for macOS.
  2. Open the .dmg file you downloaded. A window opens with the ThatPrompt icon and your Applications folder.
  3. Drag ThatPrompt onto Applications.
  4. Open ThatPrompt from your Applications folder.
  5. macOS says the app was downloaded from the internet and asks if you're sure. Choose Open. ThatPrompt is signed by its maker and checked by Apple, so this is the only warning you should see. If macOS refuses to open it, see macOS or Windows won't open ThatPrompt.

Setup starts straight away. See First run for what it asks.

Where ThatPrompt lives once it's running

ThatPrompt has no Dock icon. It sits in your menu bar and appears when you press its shortcut. That's on purpose: it stays out of the way until you need it.

Uninstall

  1. Click the ThatPrompt icon in the menu bar and choose Quit. If you turned on Launch on startup, turn it off in Settings first.
  2. Drag ThatPrompt from Applications to the Bin.
  3. To remove your prompts and the downloaded model as well, delete the folder ~/Library/Application Support/com.thatprompt.app. The model can be several gigabytes. Export your library first if you might want your prompts back.
