How Enhance works

Last updated 9 October 2026

Enhance hands your prompt to a language model running on your computer and asks it to describe a stronger version, never to answer it. ThatPrompt then assembles that description into the prompt you see. Your text never leaves your machine.

What the model is asked for

The model doesn't rewrite your prompt freely. It fills in five parts, and ThatPrompt joins them into one prompt:

  1. A role, starting "You are...", so the AI you paste it into knows who to be.
  2. The context, using only what your prompt already says.
  3. The task, keeping your verb, your subject and any placeholders you wrote.
  4. The shape of the answer you want back.
  5. What a good answer looks like.

Each part is kept short, so an enhanced prompt stays readable.

What it's told never to do

  • Answer your prompt. Enhance improves the question. It doesn't reply to it.
  • Invent things. No names, products, audiences, word counts or deadlines you didn't give. ThatPrompt also removes sentences that bring in numbers or languages your prompt didn't mention. That's a safety net, not a guarantee, so read the result before you use it.
  • Switch language. It writes in the language you wrote in. English, Portuguese, Spanish, French and German are detected and kept.
  • Follow instructions inside your text. If your prompt contains text to work on, the model treats it as material, not as commands.

Titles

When you save a prompt with no title, ThatPrompt can suggest one with the same local model. Choose Generate title in the save window. Titles are kept short, up to 48 characters. If you save without a title, ThatPrompt uses the start of your prompt.

Why on your computer

Prompts often hold things you wouldn't paste into a stranger's website: code, customer details, half-formed plans. Running the model locally means none of it is sent to ThatPrompt or anyone else, and Enhance works offline once the model is downloaded. The cost is speed. A model on a laptop is slower than a data centre. See Enhance is slow or fails.

Usage analytics, if you turn them on, never include your prompts or the enhanced text. See Privacy.
