Where your data lives
Last updated 9 October 2026
Your prompts, folders, settings and the model are all on your computer, in ThatPrompt's own folder. Nothing in your library is stored on a server. The only things ThatPrompt's server knows are your account, your licence, and what you choose to send it, like feedback.
On a Mac
| What | Where |
|---|---|
| Prompts and folders | ~/Library/Application Support/com.thatprompt.app/thatprompt.db |
| The model | ~/Library/Application Support/com.thatprompt.app/models/ |
| Settings | ~/Library/Preferences/com.thatprompt.app.plist |
| Sign-in and licence | Your login keychain |
To open the folder, choose Go, then Go to Folder… in Finder and paste ~/Library/Application Support/com.thatprompt.app.
On Windows
| What | Where |
|---|---|
| Prompts, folders, settings and the model | ThatPrompt's folder inside %APPDATA% |
| The app itself | Wherever you extracted the .zip |
To open it, press Win+R, type %APPDATA%, and look for the ThatPrompt folder.
The prompt database
thatprompt.db is a SQLite file. Don't edit it while ThatPrompt is running. To back up or move your prompts, use Export instead, which writes a readable file you can import anywhere. See Back up and restore your prompts.
The model
The model is the biggest file ThatPrompt keeps, 610 MB to 3.1 GB depending on which you chose. When you change the model, ThatPrompt deletes the old file once the new one is working. If a clean-up app deletes it, ThatPrompt offers to download it again. See The model is missing or won't download.
What isn't on your computer
Your account (email address and password) and your licence live on ThatPrompt's server, so you can sign in on a second computer. Usage analytics, if you turn them on, are sent to it too, and never include your prompts. See Privacy.
