Save your first prompt
Last updated 9 October 2026
Press Ctrl+Shift+N from any app (⌃⇧N on a Mac), paste or type your prompt, and press Cmd+Enter (Ctrl+Enter on Windows) to save it. You don't need a title. ThatPrompt makes one if you leave it empty.
Save a prompt
- Press Ctrl+Shift+N. New Prompt opens. If ThatPrompt is already open, choose New at the bottom or press Cmd+N (Ctrl+N on Windows).
- Paste or type your prompt under Prompt.
- Optionally, give it a title. Leave it empty and ThatPrompt uses the prompt's first line. With a model installed, the sparkle button next to the title suggests one.
- Optionally, put it in a folder: type a folder name under Folder. A new name creates the folder. See Organise prompts into folders.
- Choose Save, or press Cmd+Enter (Ctrl+Enter on Windows). You'll see Saved!
Press Esc to close without saving.
Make it better before you save it
Choose Enhance under the prompt. ThatPrompt rewrites it with your local model and shows both versions. Accept puts the enhanced version into the prompt field so you can save it. See Enhance a prompt.
Limits
A title can be up to 200 characters and a prompt up to 50,000. A prompt can't be empty.
