Turn usage analytics on or off

Last updated 9 October 2026

Usage analytics are off unless you turn them on. To change your mind, open Settings and use Share anonymised usage data under Privacy. They never include your prompts, the enhanced text, or anything you type.

Turn it on or off

  1. Click the ThatPrompt icon in your menu bar or system tray and choose Settings.
  2. Under Privacy, switch Share anonymised usage data on or off.

Switching it off also deletes anything waiting to be sent.

You were asked during setup too, on the Help us improve ThatPrompt step. If you skipped the question, a banner in the command palette asks once: Not now or Share.

What's sent when it's on

Events about what happened, not what was in it. For example:

  • ThatPrompt started, and how long it took.
  • A prompt was created, edited, deleted, searched for or used.
  • Enhance started, finished or failed, how long it took, and which model ran it.
  • A model download started, finished or failed.
  • An update banner was shown or clicked.

Each event carries the app version, your operating system, and a random number that changes every time ThatPrompt starts. No account, no email address, no name.

What's never sent

  • Your prompts, titles or folder names.
  • The text Enhance writes.
  • Anything you type or select.

ThatPrompt's code is tested so that no event can carry a field for text, and the server strips any that try. See Privacy for everything ThatPrompt sends over the network, analytics or not.

Why we ask

With a handful of people using ThatPrompt, knowing that Enhance is slow on Windows, or that nobody finds a feature, is the difference between fixing the right thing and guessing.
