Organise prompts into folders

Last updated 9 October 2026

Type a folder name in the Folder field when you save or edit a prompt. A new name creates the folder, an existing one reuses it. To browse, open ThatPrompt and choose All Folders at the top of the list.

Put a prompt in a folder

  1. Save a new prompt, or edit one with Cmd+E (Ctrl+E on Windows).
  2. Type in Folder. Existing folders that match appear below. Click one, or keep typing to create a new folder.
  3. Save.

A prompt lives in one folder at most. To take it out, clear the field with the × and save. It goes back to Uncategorised.

Folder names ignore capitals, so Work and work are the same folder.

Browse a folder

  1. Open ThatPrompt. All Folders is the first row when you have any folders.
  2. Press Enter on it, or click it. Every folder is listed with how many prompts it holds, plus Uncategorised.
  3. Open a folder. The list shows only its prompts, and search only looks inside it.
  4. Press Esc or the back arrow to step out.

You can also type a folder's name in the search box. Matching folders appear above the prompts.

Rename a folder

Open the folder, then choose the pencil next to its name. Type the new name and choose Rename.

If you rename it to the name of another folder, the two are merged: its prompts move into the other folder.

Delete a folder

Open the folder, then choose the bin next to its name, and confirm with Delete. The prompts aren't deleted. They move to Uncategorised.
