Use ThatPrompt on a second computer

Last updated 9 October 2026

Install ThatPrompt on the second computer and sign in with the same account. Your licence covers two computers at a time. Your prompts don't sync between them, so to bring them over, export them on the first computer and import them on the second.

Set up the second computer

  1. Install ThatPrompt: macOS or Windows.
  2. In setup, sign in with the same account you use on the first computer. The licence is on the account, so it unlocks straight away.
  3. Pick a model. Each computer downloads its own.

Bring your prompts over

  1. On the first computer, open Settings and choose Export under Data. See Back up and restore your prompts.
  2. Get the file to the second computer, by cloud drive, email to yourself or a USB stick.
  3. On the second computer, open Settings, choose Import, and pick the file.

From then on, the two libraries are separate. A prompt saved on one doesn't appear on the other until you export and import again.

Why prompts don't sync

Your prompts never leave your computer. That's the point: nothing to read, leak or train on. Syncing would mean storing them on a server. See Privacy.

"This account is on too many devices"

ThatPrompt can be signed in on two computers at a time. A third gets this message.

  • Email hello@blacklabstudios.com from your account's address and we'll reset your devices, so you can sign in on the new one straight away. Choose Contact support on the message to start the email.
  • Or wait. A computer you stop using frees its place by itself about 30 days after it last connected.

Signing out on the old computer doesn't free its place yet. That's a known problem we're fixing.
