macOS or Windows won't open ThatPrompt

Last updated 9 October 2026

On Windows, a Windows protected your PC message is expected the first time. Choose More info, then Run anyway. On a Mac, ThatPrompt is signed and checked by Apple, so if macOS refuses to open it, the download is usually the problem. Download it again from thatprompt.ai/download.

Windows: "Windows protected your PC"

This is Windows SmartScreen. It shows up for apps that aren't code-signed yet, and the Windows build of ThatPrompt isn't.

  1. Choose More info.
  2. Choose Run anyway.

You only need to do this once per version.

If your antivirus or your company's IT rules block it outright, they may not allow unsigned apps at all. Ask whoever manages your computer, or email us.

Mac: "downloaded from the internet"

The first time you open ThatPrompt, macOS asks whether you're sure, because the app came from the internet. Choose Open. That's normal and only happens once.

Mac: macOS won't open it at all

ThatPrompt from thatprompt.ai is signed with its maker's Developer ID and notarised by Apple. If macOS says it can't be opened or can't check it for malicious software:

  1. Make sure you downloaded it from thatprompt.ai/download, not from somewhere else.
  2. Delete the copy you have and download it again. A download that was cut short can fail Apple's check.
  3. Still blocked? Open System Settings, go to Privacy & Security, scroll down and choose Open Anyway next to the message about ThatPrompt. Then email us, because an official download shouldn't need this.
