When Raycast is the better choice

You want one launcher for apps, windows, clipboard history and AI, rather than a separate tool for prompts.
You want a prompt to run and the answer to appear straight away, without opening ChatGPT or Claude.
Your prompts depend on placeholders filled in when they run, like the selected text or an argument you type. ThatPrompt doesn't fill anything in.
You need your prompts on an iPhone, or synced between computers. ThatPrompt doesn't sync.
Your team shares one set of prompts. Raycast Teams does that, and ThatPrompt has no sharing.

When ThatPrompt is the better choice

You use more than one AI tool. ThatPrompt pastes the same prompt into ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor or a terminal, because it isn't tied to a model.
You want help writing the prompt itself. Enhance turns a rough line into a prompt with a role, context, the task and the shape of answer you want.
You don't want your prompts sent to a cloud model. Enhance runs on a model on your computer, and works offline once it's downloaded.
You'd rather pay once. ThatPrompt is $39, with every update. Raycast's AI is a subscription.
You want the prompts you use most to come first without pinning or tagging them yourself.

Using both

Plenty of people keep Raycast as their launcher and use ThatPrompt for prompts. If one of ThatPrompt's shortcuts clashes with a Raycast hotkey, ThatPrompt tells you and keeps the old one working, so you can pick another.

Does ThatPrompt run prompts like Raycast AI Commands?

No. ThatPrompt doesn't send your prompt to an AI to answer it. It pastes the prompt into the AI tool you already use. The only model it runs is the local one Enhance uses to improve a prompt.

Is Raycast AI free?

No. Raycast Free doesn't include AI. AI comes with Raycast Pro, at $10 a month or $96 a year, as 500 credits a month. The Plus and Max plans give more credits.

Does ThatPrompt have variables like Raycast's {argument}?

No. ThatPrompt pastes the prompt as you saved it. A placeholder you write, like [topic], stays as text for you to replace, and Enhance keeps it when it rewrites the prompt.

Can I bring my Raycast snippets into ThatPrompt?

Yes, through a Markdown file. ThatPrompt imports any file where each prompt starts with a # Title line and prompts are separated by ---. See Back up and restore your prompts.
