ThatPrompt vs keeping prompts in Notion
Last updated 22 October 2026. Details about Notion checked on 21 October 2026.
The short answer
Notion is a cloud workspace, and a prompt library page there is a good way to share prompts with a team. ThatPrompt is a $39 desktop app that keeps prompts on your computer. One shortcut finds a prompt from any app and pastes it where you were typing, and a model on your machine rewrites rough prompts into precise ones.

When Notion is the better choice
- Your team keeps one prompt library and edits it together. Notion's permissions and teamspaces are made for that, and ThatPrompt has no sharing.
- You need your prompts on your phone or in a browser.
- Your prompts belong next to the notes, examples and results that go with them, in a workspace you already pay for.
When ThatPrompt is the better choice
- You use your prompts many times a day. From any app, press the shortcut, type a few letters and press Enter. The prompt lands where you were typing, with no app switching.
- You want the prompts you use most to rise to the top on their own. See how search ranks prompts.
- Your prompts hold code, client details or plans you'd rather not keep in someone else's cloud. ThatPrompt's library is a file on your computer.
- You want help writing them. Enhance rewrites a rough prompt on a model on your computer, and you see both versions before anything changes.
- You work offline. Search, paste and Enhance all work with no connection after setup.
Using both
A team library in Notion and a personal one in ThatPrompt work well side by side. Keep the shared, documented prompts in Notion, and copy the ones you use every day into ThatPrompt, where they're a shortcut away.
Questions
Can I move my prompts from Notion to ThatPrompt?
Yes. Export the Notion page as Markdown, then shape it so each prompt starts with a # Title line, with --- between prompts. An optional Folder: line under the title files it. In ThatPrompt, open Settings and choose Import. See Back up and restore your prompts.
Does Notion's desktop shortcut do the same thing?
Not quite. Notion's Command Search opens from any app and searches your workspace or asks Notion AI. It finds the page. ThatPrompt pastes the prompt itself into the app you were in.
Does ThatPrompt sync like Notion?
No. Your prompts stay on the computer you saved them on, which is why nothing in them can leak from a server. To use them on a second computer, export and import. See Use ThatPrompt on a second computer.
Does Notion AI keep my prompts?
Notion says it doesn't train on workspace data by default. Below the Enterprise plan, its AI providers keep data for up to 30 days. ThatPrompt's Enhance runs on your computer, so there's nothing sent to keep.
